This program, offered both online and in-person, equips you with the tools you’ll need to thrive. SOAR allows you to gain a better understanding of campus life, engage with your academic advisor, and connect with fellow students, ensuring a smooth transition to becoming a Georgia Southern Eagle.

Fall 2025 Enrollment Checklist

SOAR Session Dates, Times and Registration Fees

Students are required to attend a SOAR session, in its entirety, to receive and retain a course schedule. For convenience, sessions are offered both in-person and virtually based on student preference. Freshman SOAR sessions are full-day sessions and students are required to be available from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Fall 2025 registration will open later this year.

In-Person Sessions

Virtual SOAR Sessions

  • Fall 2025 SOAR dates will be announced later this year.

Registration Fees

In-Person/On-Campus Sessions

  • Student – $60
    • Includes: Student materials including a bag with Georgia Southern swag, trained staff to assist in your transition, lunch/snack breaks as applicable, print materials, and other items.
  • Guest (max of 2) – $20 each
    • Includes: Guest materials and bag, trained staff to assist in your transition, lunch/snack breaks as applicable, print materials, and other items.

Guests ages 8 and under are not required to pay as a guest, however, a meal will need to be purchased for them if they plan to eat lunch on campus.

Liberty SOAR sessions are half-day sessions from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and students should plan on being available for the duration of their session.

    • Includes: Guest materials and bag, trained staff to assist in your transition, snack break, print materials, and other items.

Your Commitment

Students that have been admitted into fully online programs demonstrate to Georgia Southern an intent to enroll by registering for SOAR. The date of this SOAR session is set to the first day of classes; however, students in fully online programs do not attend a formal SOAR event. Once you register, your academic advisement team will be notified and inform you of the next steps specific to your program. There is no fee to register for SOAR.Important additional instructions for fully online students.

Important Additional Instructions for Fully Online Students

  • Complete your commitment to Georgia Southern by officially registering for the fully online programs SOAR through your My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu portal. Remember, there is no formal event and this is just dated as the first day of classes.
  • Complete Course Preference Form. This will be available for all Fall 2025 commitments in late-March 2025. This course must be completed to receive a class schedule. Once available, more information will be emailed to students with a SOAR commitment in the system.
  • Submit the FAFSA – If you want to be considered for federal or state student aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Engage with your academic advisor! After you have committed to Georgia Southern through the SOAR portal and completed the pre-advisement course, keep an eye out for an email from your program/academic advisor to discuss next steps relevant to your program of study.

Virtual Sessions

  • Student – $35
    • Includes: Virtual platform, Georgia Southern swag mailed home, and trained staff to assist your transition.
  • Guest (max of 1) – Free
    • NOTE: Students only need to register a guest if they plan to log in on a separate device. This allows the guest to break out on the Parent & Family track when needed.
